Marie Dressler ex-officio Director and Jefferson Healthcare Commissioner
After working for 26 years as an obstetrics nurse in Jefferson Healthcare’s Family Birth Center, Marie has served on the Board of Commissioners since being elected in 2009 and is completing a second term on the foundation board.
Hilary Whittington Kerber President
Hilary is dedicated to strengthening the resources that make Jefferson County a vibrant and healthy place to live. With a background in finance and accounting, Hilary currently serves as the CFO of Pulse Heart Institute and was the CFO/CAO of Jefferson Healthcare for 9 years prior. She lives in Port Ludlow with her husband and two young sons.
Rick Smith Treasurer
Rick's career as a Financial Advisor in Port Ludlow and his past roles on the Port Ludlow Village Council Emergency Management Team, Jefferson Hospice Foundation Board, and as president of the East Jefferson Rotary Club serves him well in his new role on the board. As a lifelong resident of the Olympic Peninsula, Rick is deeply committed to the service and the well-being of our community. Rick enjoys hiking, camping, cycling, and savoring good food, along with with his wife and their young son.
Marijo Brantner Vice President
Marijo brings decades of experience in healthcare communications, public service, and nonprofit leadership. She has worked as a communications manager at Bartlett Regional Hospital, held several executive roles with community organizations, and served as a statewide IT planner for the State of Alaska. Marijo holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota and lives with her husband on Marrowstone Island.
Karen Swanson-Woolf Secretary
Karen was a nurse at the U.S. Army 3rd Field Hospital In Vietnam, and in April 1975, served on Vietnam’s Operation Babylift. Karen worked for 20 years in Washington, D.C. for various government agencies, including eight years leading the congressional agenda for the Commerce Department's 13 bureaus. Karen has deep family roots in Jefferson County. Her father, Carl Swanson, served on the hospital board of commissioners for over 22 years.

Marti Tarnowski, Director ex-officio
Marti served as Associate Administrator at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland, WA, and as Chief Operating Officer at St Joseph Hospital in Tacoma before transitioning to strategic and development work as Senior Vice President at Swedish Hospital.
Patty Rhoden Director and Jefferson Healthcare Commissioner
Before her retirement and move to Port Townsend, Patty worked in various CFO roles with Banner Health, with her final role at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix. Patty was elected as a Commissioner in 2025.
Bruce McComas Jefferson Healthcare Commissioner
Bruce couples his business experience as former General Manager for Port Townsend Paper Corporation with his patient advocate experience, to help Jefferson Healthcare maintain and improve the financial stability, accessibility, and scope of services. Bruce knows first-hand the need to keep healthcare local, and is thrilled to come full circle back to supporting the Foundation in its philanthropic mission, as he served as the Foundation's first president.
Mike Glenn Jefferson Healthcare CEO ex-officio
Mike Glenn, CEO of Jefferson Healthcare since 2010, facilitated the newest hospital building, dedicated in 2015. He is now leading the the build of a new medical building to expand services which will include the Jefferson Cancer Treatment Project. Construction is scheduled to begin the summer of 2023.
